How does Apprenticeship Work?
The Apprenticeship Program is a training that is approved by the Department of Labor and Division of Apprenticeship Standards that allows a trainee, called an apprentice to earn while you learn to become a Barber or Cosmetologist. Under the guidance and supervision of a California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology
Steps to become an Apprentice
We use an innovative approach for the modern student who wants to pursue their passion in Cosmetology
STEP 1
Choose a hairstylist or barber that will hire and mentor you at their salon or barber shop
STEP 2
Set up admissions appointment to begin the application process. Bring the following:
- Drivers License / I.D Card
- SSN Card
- Letter to Director “Why you want to be an apprentice at AML Academy”
- Down Payment $1500 payable to
STEP 3
39 Hour Pre Apprentice Training General Sciences | Health 7 Safety | Sanitation & Disinfection | Draping
STEP 4
Become a Licensed Apprentice recognized by the California State Board of Barbering & Cosmetology
STEP 5
Start working with your mentor in the salon or barber shop, while taking hands on classes Hair Color | Hair Cutting | Chemical Texturing and more…… all while building a clientele and learning the business, and accumulating hours to successfully graduate
STEP 6
Prepare and take the State Board Examination.
STEP 7
Become a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL!
AML Academy Cosmetology and Barbering Apprenticeship Licensing Program
What is an apprenticeship?
The apprenticeship program is a training program approved by the Department of Labor Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS), and State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. This program allows a trainee, called an “apprentice” to earn a wage while studying to become a cosmetologist or barber. A true elite way of learning. The program is 3200 hours, however, unlike traditional schools once you graduate you will already have the following:

- Licensed Professional of Two Years
- A Clientele

Steps to Success!

- Pick up application.
- Submit application with a down payment.
- Start classes one day per week.
- Apprentice license “Licensed Apprentice Professional”
- Earn while you learn by starting to work with your mentor in the salon or barbershop while taking classes on skills, building a clientele, and learning the business all while accumulating hours.
- Prepare for the state exam.
- Graduate.
- Challenge state test.
- Onto a fabulous career as a professional in the field of barbering or cosmetology “licensed professional”
